Planning to rent a self drive car in Bhubaneswar? Before you book self drive, make sure you have the right documents ready. Verification is quick 5 minutes at pickup but missing documents means the car cannot be handed over. Here is exactly what you need, along with some first time tips.

Documents Required for Indian Citizens

You need just two documents, both in original:

• Valid Indian Driving Licence: Must be current and not expired. Learner’s licence is not accepted. The licence must match the vehicle category — LMV (Light Motor Vehicle) covers all cars in our fleet including the Thar and XUV 500.
• Government Photo ID (Aadhaar Card): Used for identity verification. PAN card or Voter ID accepted as alternatives. The address on the ID does not need to match your current location.

Both documents can be shared digitally via WhatsApp before your pickup date. Originals are verified at handover and returned immediately — we do not keep your documents.

Documents for International Visitors

• Valid Passport (with Indian visa)
• International Driving Permit (IDP) — issued by your home country. A foreign driving licence alone is not sufficient in India.
• IDP must be valid and match the vehicle category for cars.

Age Requirements

You must be between 18 and 65 years old to rent a self drive car from Rideez. The driving licence must have been issued at least 1 year ago. New licence holders under 1 year are not eligible.

Security Deposit

A refundable security deposit is collected at pickup:

• Hatchbacks: ₹3,000-5,000
• Sedans and compact SUVs: ₹5,000-7,000
• SUVs (Ertiga, Kia Carens, XUV 500): ₹7,000-10,000
• Mahindra Thar: ₹10,000

Deposit is fully refunded within 48-72 hours after vehicle inspection on return. Accepted via cash, UPI, or debit card. No credit card required. See our cancellation and refund policy for details.

What You Do NOT Need

• No credit card required
• No physical photocopies — digital copies via WhatsApp are accepted
• No address proof from Bhubaneswar — your home address ID is sufficient
• No advance registration or membership

Can I use a digital driving licence (DigiLocker)?

We accept DigiLocker driving licences for pre-verification via WhatsApp. However, please carry the original or a printed copy for the physical handover verification as well.

My licence is from another state. Can I still rent?

Yes. Indian driving licences are valid across all states. You can rent a car in Bhubaneswar with a licence issued from any Indian state.
